Could you be…

The World’s Top New Author?

The World’s Top New Author (WTNA) is designed to do for authors or new authors what the Hit TV Show The Voice does for vocalists!

We’re aggressively seeking to uncover
The World’s Top New Author

For centuries new authors have had to work too hard or too long to receive even a crumb of recognition or, in the worst cases, they just end up being flatly ignored.

No longer will that be the case as The World’s Top New Author relentlessly seeks to uncover the literary world’s newest, world-altering, shining stars — the next Hemingways, Grishams, or Chopras.

While other writing contests merely name their winners and leave it at that, The World’s Top New Author’s primary purpose is to go way beyond that by aggressively placing all of our authors — winners of our contest and non-winners alike — in a position to be discovered by readers worldwide.

How We Will Do That

To do so, we will utilize a wide variety of promotional options, including social media campaigns and a variety of mailing lists, to drive attention to material submitted by all WTNA authors.

Then aggressive media campaigns will be employed to laud attention to the works of our top fiction and non-fiction winners.

How the Contest Works:
The WTNA Twelve Step Program of Success

First, choose the program that’s best for you here. The sooner you get your first submission posted, the more readers will have the opportunity to love your writing and to eventually vote for you as The World’s Top New Author. Also, choose your package carefully. Choosing the right package for you will do a lot to determine how many readers will be driven to review your pages.

Second, submit the first five, double-spaced pages of your yet unpublished or self-published book, along with a 250-word promo blurb post on your book, for all the world to see, on the WTNA website.

Third, as soon as your pages have been okayed for posting, your promo blurb will be published under “New Submissions” on the  WTNA site and announced in the next  WTNA newsletter.

Fourth, drive as many potential voters, friends, family, colleagues, etc., to the WTNA site to review your submission and encourage them to drive potential voters they know to the  WTNA site to read your writing and to potentially vote for you as well.

Fifth, the deadline for submissions is November 11, 2020. Again, the earlier you submit your material and the more aggressive you are about driving potential voters to your submission, the better chance you have of winning.

Sixth, voting for the first round of WTNA opens on November 30, 2020, and closes on December 7, 2020, with the Round One Winners being announced on December 14, 2020.  One vote per email address for both fiction and non-fiction is allowed. The Round One Winners will be deemed to be the top ten (10) vote-getters in each category (i.e. there will be ten (10) Round One Winners in both fiction and non-fiction categories for a total of twenty (20) Round One Winners). Voting will be limited to one vote per email/text address for both fiction and non-fiction categories.

Seventh, after the Round One Winners are selected, such Round One Winners will submit the first 25-page submission of their books for Round One Winners opens on January 5, 2021, and closes on January 8, 2021, with all submissions being promoted on the WTNA  site, newsletter, and through social media.

Eighth, voting for Round Two Winners begins on January 18, 2021, and closes on January 23, 2021, with Round Two Winners announced on January 27, 2021. The Round Two Winners will be deemed to be the top six (6) vote-getters in each category (i.e. there will be six (6) Round Two Winners in both fiction and non-fiction categories for a total of twelve (12) Round Two Winners). Voting will be limited to one vote per email/text address for both fiction and non-fiction categories.

Ninth, following a thorough professional review of Round Two Winners previous submissions, the first 50-page submission of their books for the six fiction and non-fiction finalists opens on February 1, 2021, and closes on February 5, 2021, with all submissions being promoted on the WTNA site, via the WTNA mailing list and newsletter and through conventional media as well as social media, as determined by WTNA.

Tenth, between February 6, 2021 and February 13, 2021, WTNA Founder, Tom Bird, and two other qualified judges will choose the three fiction and three non-fiction winners. The criteria for selection for all rounds of voting, including the final round, shall be as follows:

  • 40% Creativity and originality of plot and/or themes;
  • 40% Story structure and use of literary devices;
  • 20% Marketability of the story.

In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score in the creativity and originality category from among all tying entries will be deemed the winner from among all tying entries.

Eleventh, before a live internet audience on February 24, 2021, the three fiction and non-fiction winners of WTNA are announced!

Twelfth, now the real fun begins as WTNA Winners receive their prizes, see their books published, their works distributed worldwide and, most of all, begin their lives as The World’s Top New Authors!!!!!
